Our Curriculum is based on the Early Childhood Curriculum document ‘Te Whāriki’, and incorporates aspects from a variety of philosophies and early childhood pedagogy (methods of teaching).
Our Programme has a strong focus on fostering children’s independence, confidence, social skills, curiosity, and responsibility for ourselves, each other, the environment and the natural world. We know that children are capable and competent communicators and learners; the environment and programme reflects this by making the child the focus. We plan learning experiences, linked to the children’s interests, which support the development of the children’s dispositions for learning (life skills). These provide each child with a strong foundation and can be translated into all areas of the children’s lives in the future, and support their emotional, physical, intellectual, social and language skills.
